Jack Wilhite is seeking the Republican nomination for one of the at-large Warsaw City Council seats vacated by board member Elaine Call. Wilhite said, “Councilwoman Call has been a valued asset to the citizens of Warsaw through three mayors and I thank Elaine for her service. Warsaw will miss her experience and dedication.”

A 51 year Warsaw area resident Wilhite roots go deep. Politically He has served as a Republican Precinct committee person from 1988 through 2000. He is a current Warsaw BZA member and GOP 3rd District Finance appointee.

Wilhite commented, “I have attended the majority of city council meetings as a concerned citizen for over 3 years. Although you may not agree with everything the council does, I can tell you from my perspective the mayor and current board work diligently toward a consensus providing the citizens with solutions we can all live with.”

Married to Theresa Rugs Wilhite since March of 1975 Wilhite has four children and three grandchildren. He is an active member of the community serving First Christian Church, as a Deacon, Elder, and Praise Team Bass player. He served local Cub Scout Pack 3730 as Cubmaster for 9 years, Assistant Scout Master to Troop 715, and is the current First Christian Church liaison to Pack 3731.

Working at Biomet for 37 years, Wilhite started in the maintenance department and has been an engineer 26 years. Of his career at Biomet he hopes to bring a unique perspective to the board. Wilhite said, “I am use to dealing with competing ideas on a daily basis, ideas with which people are passionate. Whenever change is implemented it is always best to first gather input from those closest to the action. When elected I look forward to forming a bond with Warsaw Department heads. I desire to walk their process with them, find out how their ideas will make our departments better, and work towards achievable goals.”

Noting there are two educators and two business owners currently serving the City Council, Wilhite believes they would benefit from the perspective of someone in the manufacturing community. Wilhite stated, “Let’s face it; manufacturing in our community provides the lion share of jobs making our community safe, comfortable, and cutting edge. Warsaw has consistently been able to maintain a low tax rate due to its robust base provided by manufacturing. The Technology Park is evidence the current council recognizes its importance to our community’s future. I will work diligently to ensure Warsaw maintains that manufacturing friendly environment.”
